Brent is a member of the Municipal, Planning & Environmental Law Group at Cassels Brock. His practice focuses on all aspects of municipal and land use planning law, acting for municipal corporations, government agencies and developers.
Brent has been recognized by Lexpert as an "up and coming" lawyer and has extensive experience working at the municipal, provincial and federal government levels. His thorough understanding of the land development business enables him to provide valuable and practical strategic advice to clients in an effective and cost-efficient manner.
Some of Brent's recent work experience includes:
· Acting for clients in matters before the Ontario Municipal Board (OMB), municipal and regional councils and the Ontario Provincial Development Facilitator in relation to a range of municipal, planning and environmental law issues
· Monitoring political and public policy developments and analysing the potential impact of emerging government policy and program changes on client interests
· Preparing briefs, submissions and presentations to governments and key industry participants on behalf of clients
· Acting for public sector clients in municipal enforcement matters, including Building Code and Municipal Act prosecutions
· Preparing development applications and obtaining development approvals for private and public sector clients
· Advising public and private sector clients on issues of municipal liability, finance, alternative service delivery, election law, nuisance and negligence
· Providing detailed analysis on a range of legal issues in planning and environmental law
Brent is an active member of his community and has served in various capacities with organizations including Rouge Valley Health System Foundation, West Hill Community Services, West Hill Minor Hockey Association, West Rouge Sports and Recreation Association and the Port Union Waterfront Improvement Project.
