Brian J. McGinnis is of counsel in the Indianapolis office of Barnes & Thornburg. A member of the firm's Intellectual Property Department, Mr. McGinnis focuses his practice on trademark, copyright, trade dress, advertising, Internet, right of publicity, trade secret, and unfair competition matters. Prior to joining Barnes & Thornburg, Mr. McGinnis served as in-house counsel for an Indianapolis-based intellectual property consulting firm where he regularly counseled multi-national corporations on complex intellectual property protection and enforcement issues. Mr. McGinnis holds experience counseling clients on intellectual property protection strategies designed to address domestic, foreign and internet-based infringement and maximize the growth of clients' brands around the world. Mr. McGinnis also holds experience in trademark and trade dress litigation and trademark licensing. Mr. McGinnis earned his juris doctorate degree from the Valparaiso University School of Law in 2004, where he received a degree concentration in intellectual property and earned honors for his work in intellectual property. He earned his undergraduate degree in telecommunications from Indiana University in Bloomington, where he was selected to the Mortar Board Senior Honor Society and named a finalist for the Herman B Wells Senior Recognition Award. Mr. McGinnis is admitted to practice in the State of Indiana and before the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He is also a member of the American Bar Association, Indiana State Bar Association and Indianapolis Bar Association. |
