Mr. Osias is a Partner in McCarter & English, LLP's Insurance Coverage and Complex Commercial Litigation Group. He is resident in the firm's Newark office.
Mr. Osias primarily represents large corporate policyholders in complex coverage disputes with their insurers seeking reimbursement for large losses. Clients have included Fortune 500 companies as well as other well-known companies. He has litigated matters involving hundreds of millions of dollars in damages and successfully secured numerous high value settlements for his clients.
Mr. Osias has handled a wide variety of insurance-related disputes, including cases involving liability arising from construction accidents, employee dishonesty claims, financial services litigation, large-scale toxic torts, and intellectual property claims, among others.
Mr. Osias has a great deal of experience in obtaining reimbursement for his clients pursuant to additional insured, insured contract or similar policy provisions, as well as indemnification agreements with vendors, subcontractors and suppliers. Mr. Osias also has a great deal of experience with various claims-made policy forms, including D&O, E&O, EPLI and similar coverage. He has advised clients in the banking, finance and brokerage industries in obtaining coverage under those types of policies.
In addition to coverage matters, Mr. Osias has successfully defended a number of commercial and product liability cases. Mr. Osias has handled all phases of litigation, up to and including trial and appeal. Mr. Osias has first chair trial experience. He regularly appears before state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York.
Mr. Osias has obtained a number of awards and distinctions. He was named one of NJBIZ's 2009 Forty Under 40 award winners. Mr. Osias has also been recognized as a Chambers USA "Leaders in their Field" lawyer for 2010-2012, which stated that he has been a success among clients for his "tenacious, yet balanced approach." Mr. Osias was also recognized as a Rising Star in the New Jersey Super Lawyers Magazine from 2009-2011.
