Brian J. Weber is an associate in the firm's Torts Group in the Washington, DC office. His practice involves products liability defense in complex commercial litigation nationwide. He represents a number of corporate defendants, including chemical manufacturers and manufacturers of farm and industrial equipment, in counseling and defending against individual claims, class actions and multidistrict proceedings in both state and federal courts. He is a member of the Maryland and District of Columbia bars. His practice includes extensive work with both in-house counsel and regional law firms. During his career he has had significant involvement with privilege issues, developing expertise in the determination, logging and defense of privileged information.
Recently, his practice has grown to include the defense of members of the telecommunications industry in asbestos litigation and representing defense contractors in environmental litigation. These matters have involved substantial document and e-discovery related issues, depositions, witness and trial preparation, and motions practice. These matters also involved extensive work with environmental consultants and government agencies.
In 2010 and 2011, Brian was one of the authors, along with several of his Crowell & Moring colleagues, of "Recent Developments In Toxic Torts And Environmental Law," a publication of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association.
Prior to joining Crowell & Moring, Brian was an associate at Lord, Bissell & Brook in their Products Liability department where he gained extensive knowledge in the areas of products liability and personal injury litigation, representing major clients including General Motors. He developed extensive knowledge in discovery, trial preparation, motion practice and arbitration, handling the majority of the cases on his own and working closely with engineering consultants.
Before attending law school, Brian was a legal assistant with the Attorney General of Texas on the Howard Hughes Estate case, No. 88, original action before the United States Supreme Court.
