Bruce Bloomingdale is a partner in Cadwalader's Capital Markets Group. He advises clients in connection with a wide range of finance and capital markets transactions, including securitization, structured finance, asset-based finance, supply chain finance, leveraged finance and secured lending transactions.
Bruce has extensive knowledge of, and experience with, consumer and corporate debt, including auto loans and leases, retail installment contracts, credit cards, SME loans, marketplace loans, copyrights, dealer floorplan loans, franchise loans, insurance premium receivables, fleet and equipment leases and trade receivables. His knowledge and experience also includes significant multi-jurisdictional and other international experience throughout the Americas and Europe.
Bruce regularly represents clients in connection with establishing master trusts and other financing platforms and with new or developing asset classes and transaction structures, including M&A transactions, post acquisition re-capitalizations, the monetization of illiquid assets, and, most recently, fintech, ride sharing, autonomous vehicle and other opportunities arising in connection with technological disruption in the finance and transportation industries.
Bruce is consistently recognized by industry publications and independent commentators, such as Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners, as a leading structured finance and securitization lawyer and was recently named among the one's to watch in 2016 by the Corporate LiveWire Legal Awards.
Clients are impressed by Bruce's ability to negotiate the details of the securitization but understands what is important from a business perspective. (Chambers UK 2014). Legal 500 UK 2015 remarked “connected, commercial” Bruce Bloomingdale “has exceptional client skills.” Chambers UK 2013 noted that he thinks outside the box, provides different possible options and different avenues to explore” and clients said we worked with him on very complicated transactions but he has the technical ability to make people understand clearly what is going on.
Bruce Bloomingdale received his B.A. from Michigan State University in 1991 and his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law in 1997. He is admitted to the bar of the State of Illinois (admitted in 1997) and is a registered foreign lawyer in England and Wales.
