Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP, founded in 1913, offers comprehensive legal services to a wide range of clients. The law firm's Employment Law Practice Group continues a long-established tradition of providing professional labor and employment relations advice and representation to employers in regard to all aspects of the employment relationship on an expedited basis. Our labor clients include national, regional and local employers in manufacturing, trucking, banking, retail, health care and service industries, as well as public employers such as municipalities, universities, school boards and other governmental agencies and not-for-profit entities.

Workers' Compensation

Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs, LLP has a highly successful Workers' Compensation practice group, with attorneys in our Columbus, Cleveland, Akron and Canton, Ohio, offices. We have eight attorneys in the practice group who are Certified Workers Compensation Specialists by the Ohio State Bar Association under the guidelines of the Supreme Court.

Workers' Compensation

We represent State-Funded, Self-Insured, and public employers before the Bureau of Workers' Compensation, the Industrial Commission, the Court of Common Pleas, the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Ohio. Our clients include major employers in banking/financial institutions, restaurants/service industries, technology companies, transportation, manufacturing and health care. In addition to normal defense of questionable claims, we also represent clients in all aspects of state fund and self insured employer-related issues, including coverage and rating issues, DWRF issues, handicap reimbursement and subrogation.

Buckingham attorneys have saved millions of dollars in claims costs by helping our clients develop and administer programs that include proper procedure and management of safety concerns, coordination of benefit plans and aggressive defense of contested claims.

We have assisted companies in successfully applying for self-insurance and regularly work with actuarial service companies to improve representation of the employer before the Bureau of Workers' Compensation or Industrial Commission, or in Court. When necessary we file appeals to the appropriate Court of Common Pleas or pursue mandamus actions. Our attorneys have successfully argued cases before the Supreme Court of Ohio resulting in decisions that have served to reduce employer costs and employee abuses.
