Longtime friends and former classmates at Wake Forest University School of Law, Laura B. Burt and Stacy C. Cordes joined together in 2012 to create Burt & Cordes, PLLC. At Wake Forest University School of Law, Ms. Cordes served as President of the Student Bar Association and Ms. Burt served as Vice President of the Student Bar Association. While Ms. Burt and Ms. Cordes have each practiced in separate firms for the 20+ years since their law school graduation, each has become a well respected attorney in her area of practice.
Ms. Burt has practiced family law in Charlotte, NC since 1992. Ms. Burt has worked in two prior law firms handling exclusively family law matters prior to forming Burt & Cordes, PLLC in 2012. Ms. Burt spent many years litigating child custody, child support, alimony and equitable distribution cases. Since 2002, however, Ms. Burt has focused her practice on negotiating resolutions to challenging equitable distribution, alimony and child custody matters.
