Practice/Industry Group Overview

Butler Snow has assembled a team of lawyers with a distinctive combination of experience in representation of governmental entities. Our team includes attorneys from the Commercial and General Litigation Groups as well as our Business Department who have handled matters from the local, state, regional and national levels. In Mississippi alone, we have represented a significant number of counties, municipalities and public officials all across the state as well as the State of Mississippi itself. Attorneys in the governmental litigation area also have worked closely with county sheriffs, private prison facilities and private insurers in the area of governmental liability. The Group's experience includes representing local, regional and state governmental entities in all different types of litigation, with particular expertise in the areas of Section 1983 claims, voting rights issues, state tort claims and environmental matters.
