C. George Newbern joined the firm in 1972. He is a partner practicing in the areas of real estate, wills and probate, banking and transactions.
George is a native of Valdosta, Georgia. He received his Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in 1970 from Mercer University. He received his Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Mercer University in 1972. George was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1972.
Prior to joining the firm, George served in the U.S. Army as an infantry officer. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1973.
George served as City Attorney for Hahira, Georgia, from 1975-1996 where he was Judge of the Municipal Court from 1973-1992. He is currently a member of the Valdosta Bar Association (President, 1984), the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Board of Directors of First Federal Savings and Loan Association of Valdosta.
