| Biography | Camilla Balleny specialises in intellectual property litigation and advice, with particular experience advising on matters relating to the pharmaceutical industry, focussing on patent related matters and also the overlap between intellectual property and regulatory issues, such as supplementary protection certificates and parallel trade. Most recently, Camilla has acted on the following matters, before the High Court in the UK: The Wellcome Foundation & Others(GSK) v. Abbott Laboratories (2009). Acting for GSK in a high value patent licence dispute with Abbott involving a number of patent families as well as issues of US and German law. LeisureTech Electronics (PTY) Limited v. Armour Group plc (2008). Successfully defended Armour Group against an allegation of patent infringement, and successfully revoked the relevant LeisureTech patent on the basis that it was obvious in light of common general knowledge. Camilla is also regularly involved in matters relating to trade marks, copyright, design right and confidential information. She spent over six months on an in-house secondment for a large biotech company, where she was responsible for the implementation of a compliance training program on subjects overlapping her life sciences work. Camilla is a graduate in Genetics from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne and obtained a Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice.
