Carolyn Lam concentrates her practice on representing management in both labor and employment matters. Her practice includes all aspects of EEO claims, including harassment, discrimination and retaliation cases. Carolyn has represented clients in jury and bench trials and before administrative agencies. She has represented clients in a variety of employment related matters, handling all stages of the cases from intake to settlement or trial including client and witness communication, drafting pleadings, discovery, taking depositions and preparing responses to summary judgment motions and motions to dismiss. Prior to joining Ford & Harrison, Carolyn was an associate in the employment law practice with a Birmingham law firm. Carolyn is actively involved in the community. Fluent in Vietnamese, she has served as an interpreter for the Shelby County Independent School District since 2004 and is an active member of the National Asian Pacific Bar Association. She is also a member of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama Youth Leadership Board and the Board of the Birmingham Chinese Festival Association. While in law school, Carolyn served as a volunteer high school teacher for the Street Law Program and was awarded the Presidential Scholarship. Carolyn is fluent in Vietnamese. Recent Experience ˇ Defended a multi-state corporation in a race, sex, and religious discrimination case. Summary judgment was granted. ˇ Successfully represented several national corporations against EEOC charges, obtaining "no cause findings." ˇ Provided as-needed employment law advice to a local law firm. Carolyn assisted with responses to bar grievances, advised the client on hiring, disciplinary and termination decisions, and drafted responses to EEOC charges.
