| Biography | Carrie A. Beyer is an associate in Drinker Biddle's Intellectual Property Practice Group. She concentrates her practice on intellectual property litigation and counseling. Carrie has litigated a broad range of intellectual property cases in federal trial and appellate courts around the country. In particular, Carrie has focused extensively on the litigation of complex and sophisticated patent infringement matters. Prior cases have related to technologies as varied as container inspection systems, multifocal contact lenses, portable music players, modular jacks and advertising display systems. Carrie also has litigated contract, trademark, trade dress, false advertising, fraud and unfair competition cases. Her trial experience includes work as a key member of trial teams that successfully obtained a jury verdict of infringement in a patent case in California and a directed defense verdict on trademark, false advertising and unfair competition claims during a bench trial in Illinois. Carrie counsels clients on a variety of intellectual property issues, including patentability, patent infringement, patent validity, copyright infringement, false advertising, and patent and trademark licensing. She also has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in the electrical, mechanical and related arts for clients in the aerospace, consumer electronics, toy, and telecommunications industries. In General. Carrie earned her bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and history in 2000 from Iowa State University, where she was elected to numerous honor societies including Eta Kappa Nu, Mortar Board, Order of Omega and Golden Key. She received her J.D., with honors, from the University of Illinois College of Law in 2004. At the University of Illinois, Carrie served as an editor of the University of Illinois Law Review and received a Rickert Award for Excellence in Legal Publications. She is admitted to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to practicing law, she gained broad product design experience as an engineer at Hamilton Sundstrand Aerospace, a United Technologies company. |
