Catherine Gibson is a partner in the Vancouver Office of Davis LLP where she is a member of the Real Estate, Commercial Lending and Corporate/Commercial Practice Groups. Her experience includes real estate acquisitions and development, commercial leasing, financings, share and asset transactions, public-private partnerships, shareholders' agreements and general corporate matters. Ms. Gibson is also a member of the Health Law Practice Group.
Ms. Gibson has worked with a wide variety of clients to achieve practical business-oriented results in a broad range of transactions. Some of the transactions that she has recently been involved in include: the commercial closing of a public-private partnership transaction acting on behalf of the concessionaire; negotiating commercial, industrial and retail leases on behalf of significant corporate tenants with multiple premises; maintaining tenancy relationships and lease documentation for shopping centre landlords and landlords of commercial buildings; acting for a municipality in the negotiation of agreements with private developers; acting for the owner and operator of a significant private timberlands business in connection with its real estate holdings; acting for a major corporation in a significant re-organization and transfer of assets; acting for institutional and private lenders and for corporate borrowers in connection with large commercial loans; giving opinions to trustees in bankruptcy on enforceability of security and representing trustees in sales of assets.
Ms. Gibson obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree (Eng.Lit.) in 1991 and a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1994, both from the University of British Columbia. Prior to joining Davis as an associate in 1996, she was a judicial law clerk at the British Columbia Court of Appeal. Ms. Gibson became a partner with Davis in 2004.
