Cathy Singer participates in many aspects of corporate and securities law, with an emphasis on corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, including advisory mandates for issuers, investment dealers and independent committees. Ms. Singer has extensive experience in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions (including related-party transactions) and investment funds. She also advises on all aspects of investment management and investment fund clients, including representing their interests before securities regulators.
Prior to joining Norton Rose Canada in November 2001, Ms. Singer practised at another major law firm in Toronto. From mid-1996 to 1999, she was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission as General Counsel, involving a broad range of securities transactions and development of several significant policy initiatives. Ms. Singer had extensive involvement with take-over bids and related matters and was the staff member responsible for the reformulation of the rule in Ontario relating to going-private and other related party transactions.
