Biography

Charles Bird specializes in appeals and writs in all California and federal appellate courts. He has been the lead counsel in more than 60 cases with published opinions, including U.S. Supreme Court, California Supreme Court, and U.S. Ninth and Tenth Circuits. Mr. Bird has handled more than 200 appeals and writs as lead counsel.

Recent Work / Representative Matters

Represented Musick, Peeler & Garrett in a federal securities case in the United States Supreme Court (508 U.S. 286).

Represented Centex Homes in defeating a construction liability case in the California Supreme Court (31 Cal.4th 363).

Represented the City of San Diego in establishing the validity of a public finance strategy in the California Supreme Court (18 Cal.4th 1035).

Represented Dart Industries in establishing its right to defense under lost insurance policy in California Supreme Court (28 Cal.4th 1049).
