In his nearly fifteen years representing insurance carriers, Tony has provided counseling and litigated matters under directors and officers, professional liability, general liability, and automobile liability insurance policies. In addition, he has handled matters under fidelity and surety bonds.
Tony has served as national counsel to insurance companies in connection with their tobacco, firearm, lead paint and Chinese drywall liabilities. He also focuses a substantial portion of his practice representing insurers in connection with coverage (directors and officers, professional liability and general liability) issued to healthcare providers ranging from individual psychologists or psychiatrists to small practices to large hospitals and insurers.
Outside of his insurance coverage practice, Tony maintains an active commercial litigation practice representing companies with respect to business torts and with respect to efforts to protect their business reputation from anonymous bloggers or inaccurate internet posts. He also has represented lawyers and accountants in professional liability matters.
Tony combines these various experiences to help his clients objectively analyze situations and develop strategies to maximize gains or limit exposures. Tony collaborates with his clients to reach results that are good for their overall business objectives. While this sometimes calls for aggressive litigation, it often involves working with everyone involved (including the "other side") to address problems, in creative ways.
When not practicing law, Tony loves to spend time with his family or focusing on various service efforts. Tony is on the board of Hope Africa Ministries, Inc., where he is working to build and improve a school in Western Kenya. If he's not in Kenya, he's generally trying to plan his next trip. Tony also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law Center where he co-teaches a two semester seminar on Civil Litigation.
