BiographyChris Wilson is an associate in Waller Lansden's Tax practice. He practices primarily in the area of state and local tax controversy and state tax planning. Mr. Wilson's experience focuses on Tennessee sales and use tax, franchise and excise tax, property tax, and business tax. He has assisted in the representation of various business entities in challenging tax assessments as well as in seeking tax refunds. Mr. Wilson also provides multi-state tax analysis for various business transactions in areas such as Nexus, tax apportionment, tax exemptions, transferee liability and voluntary disclosure agreements. Additionally, he assists corporations in structuring and negotiating state tax incentives for relocating or expanding operations in Tennessee. Mr. Wilson's representative experience includes assisting a landmark entertainment venue in litigation involving the application of Tennessee's Business Tax to the sale of intangibles; assisting a consumer products manufacturer in its successful appeal of the application of sales tax to the purchase and lease of an aircraft; successfully representing a manufacturer in challenging personal property and real property tax assessments; assisting an entertainment production company in administrative hearings involving the application of Tennessee property tax statutes to the lease of staging and other inventory items; assisting a nonprofit organization in obtaining a tax-exemption for a historic estate; and successfully representing a cable television company in litigation involving the application of a Tennessee sales tax exemption to cable set-top boxes and remote controls.
