Chris is a partner in the Lending & Structured Finance practice group. He has extensive experience representing banks and other lending institutions in a broad range of matters. Chris also has experience representing issuers, conduit borrowers, underwriters and other participants in municipal bond transactions.
Representative Experience
Routinely represents state and national banks in commercial, real estate and construction lending transactions, including "club" and syndicated loan transactions (as both counsel to agent and individual lenders).
Routinely represents state and national banks in providing credit and/or liquidity enhancement facilities for variable rate municipal finance transactions. Also routinely represents underwriters and remarketing agents in such transactions.
Routinely represents banks and underwriters in financing transactions for hospital systems, CCRCs and other retirement communities.
Routinely serves as Virginia local counsel to lenders and borrowers in large, multi-state lending transactions, typically involving real property collateral in Virginia.
Represented banks and conduit borrowers in various "bank qualified" (BQ) municipal finance transactions, including under the expanded BQ program rules in place during 2009 and 2010.
Represented lead underwriter in one of the nation's first "Build America Bond" (BAB) transactions involving a public university ($250MM).
Represented lead underwriter in a $1.15 billion securitization of Virginia's tobacco settlement payments.
Represented lead underwriter in multiple Georgia transportation bond issues secured by Federal highway reimbursements.
