| Biography | Christopher Dunn is a partner at Waller Lansden and concentrates his practice in the area of construction law and litigation. Since 2007, Mr. Dunn has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America® (Woodward White, Inc.) for his work in the construction law field, and he is A-V rated by Martindale-Hubbell. In June 2010, the American Arbitration Association selected Mr. Dunn for its Construction Neutrals Panel. In November 2010, he will be inducted as a Fellow in the Nashville Bar Foundation. In May 2009, Mr. Dunn was named to the Nashville Business Journal's "Best of the Bar." Mr. Dunn regularly negotiates and drafts design and construction-related agreements for use on projects throughout the United States. Specifically, his experience includes work on healthcare, hospitality, aviation, industrial, mixed use and public infrastructure projects. Mr. Dunn's transactional work specifically includes routine experience with the form construction agreements such as those associated with the American Institute of Architects, ConsensusDOCS Coalition, the Associated General Contractors of America, the Engineers Joint Contract Documents Committee and non-standardized contract documents for clients requiring custom agreements. In the litigation context, Mr. Dunn represents owners, developers, lenders, architects, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers of construction materials. His representation has involved issues of payment, workmanship, design, completion delays and surety performance. In 2006, Mr. Dunn was elected by the Governing Committee of the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry to serve on the steering committee of the Forum's Owners and Lenders Division (Division 12). Also in 2006, Mr. Dunn was a part of two separate delegations of attorneys representing the interests of construction owners which met with the American Institute of Architects as the Institute drafted its 2007 edition documents. Mr. Dunn served as Program Co-Chair for the Fall Meeting of the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry held in September 2010. In 2008, Mr. Dunn co-authored the article Consequences of Ownership or Licensing of the Project Drawings - If You Pay for it, Do You Own It? which appeared in the Summer 2008 (Vol. 28, No. 3) edition of The Construction Lawyer, a publication of the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry. Additionally, Mr. Dunn was a contributing author to two books published in 2008 by the ABA Forum on Construction, Construction Checklists: A Guide to Frequently Encountered Construction Issues in which he authored a chapter concerning the representation of construction lenders, and the second edition of THE Construction Contracts Book for which he co-authored the chapter on Step Negotiation. Mr. Dunn speaks frequently on design and construction-related topics. He has spoken at meetings and conferences sponsored by the American Bar Association's Forum on the Construction Industry, Willis Group Holdings, the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel, the Tennessee Road Builders Association and the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants. In October 2010, Mr. Dunn will speak at the 75th annual meeting of the International Municipal Lawyers Association on modern design and construction transactions in the public sector. In 2008, Mr. Dunn was elected by the members of the Tennessee Association of Construction Counsel (TACC) to serve a two-year term on the Association's three-person Board of Directors. Previously he served as the Chair of the organization's Education Committee.
