Biography

Tex McIver is a partner in the Atlanta office. In his 30 year career, Tex has assisted clients nationally and internationally in their compliance efforts involving all federal and state employment laws.

He advises employers concerning mergers and acquisitions, consolidation and streamlining (rightsizing) of organizations.

Tex has also successfully defended employers in more than 200 union organizing campaigns, and he regularly handles contract negotiations, arbitrations, defense of corporate campaigns and the full range of strikes, lockouts and other interruptions of work. Tex has also written widely on employment law subjects and presented speeches and seminars to hundreds of business associations, bar associations and client groups concerning a broad range of employment law and legislative issues. He was selected byAtlanta Lawyermagazine as one of the top legal minds in the City. He has also been listed inWho's Who LegalUSA-- Management Labour & Employmentby the researchers at theInternational Who's Who Legalpublication. Tex is AV Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell and has been repeatedly selected for inclusion inGeorgia Super Lawyers.

He has been listed inChambers USA, America's Leading Business Lawyerssince 2007 and inThe Best Lawyers in Americasince 2006. Tex was named one ofGeorgia Trendmagazine's Legal Elite in 2010, 2011 and 2013.

He was also selected as a Client Service All-Star for 2011, an elite group of attorneys nominated by in-house counsel for their outstanding client service. BTI Consulting Group conducted the survey.

In 2012 Tex was appointed by the Georgia Attorney General to serve as Special Assistant Attorney General representing Gov. Nathan Deal and the State in the matter ofColeman et al. v Deal and Jackson. He was awarded the 2012 Highest Effort Award from Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity for his achievement in the field of law.

In 2013 the fraternity honored him with The Order of the Lion Award, the third-highest award a member can receive from Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, for his service in helping to establish an SAE chapter at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia. Before entering private practice, Tex served as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General Corps from 1968 to 1972. During these 4 years he was awarded the U.S. Air Force Meritorious Service Medal for his recognition as a trial lawyer and then in 1971 the Bronze Star Medal for combat related service in Republic of South Vietnam.

Community

Tex is a member of the Putnam Development Authority, an organization dedicated to assisting the economic growth and prosperity of Putnam County, Georgia. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

In 2005, Tex was appointed by Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue to the Judicial Nominating Commission. Also in 2005, the Georgia State Senate by a vote of 50-0, appointed Tex to the five-member State Election Board, which is primarily responsible for supervising all state elections and dealing with allegations of voting irregularities. In 2006, Tex was elected to the position of Vice Chair of the State Election Board.
