Claude M. Jarry is a partner in our Litigation Group in Québec City. His practice is mainly focussed on litigation, insurance, defamation, disciplinary law, professional and medical liability.
Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault in 2002, where he works primarily in civil, professional and medical liability insurance, Mr. Jarry practiced with a major Québec City law firm for 23 years mainly in insurance law.
Mr. Jarry is a member of the Canadian Bar and the Québec Bar. He was president of the Québec Junior Bar Association in 1985-1986. He also sat on several committees at the Québec Bar and the Canadian Bar, including in 1987-1988 acting as chairman of the Québec Bar Committee on the Future of junior lawyers. While secretary of the Canadian Junior Bar Association in 1988-1989, Mr. Jarry was also president of Law Day (province of Québec) organized by the Canadian Bar Association. From 1989 through 1991, he taught at the École de formation professionnelle of the Québec Bar. Mr. Jarry appears as a leading lawyer in medical negligence in the last edition of Best Lawyers in Canada.
Mr. Jarry's active social involvement has led him to be, in turn, president of the professional division of the United Way of Canada (Québec Region) fund-raising campaign, president of the Ste-Foy Regional Chamber of Commerce (1992-1993), and secretary of the Institut de Cardiologie de Québec (1993-2008). In 2009, he is now secretary of the Fondation de l'Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec.
Mr. Jarry received his LLB from Université Laval in 1978, and was called to the Québec Bar in 1979.
