    Biography

    Clayton Parr practices in the area of natural resources law. Mr. Parr has experience in nearly all aspects of natural resources law, including mineral exploration, acquisition of mineral and related land use rights, permitting, project development, venture relationships, contracting, and government relations.

    Mr. Parr represented some of the world's largest mining and oil and gas companies and has served as lead counsel in the acquisition of a $120 million Nevada gold project, facilitated the purchase of 400 producing wells in Utah and Montana, represented a major international gold firm in the acquisition of exploration properties in Indonesia, Africa and Latin America, participated in the drafting and lobbying of geothermal legislation in Utah and in the establishment of the first geothermal producing unit in the state, and assisted buyers in an acquisition of three operating coal mines in Utah.

    Prior to joining the firm in 1976, Mr. Parr practiced with a law firm in Anchorage, Alaska, followed by five years as corporate counsel with The Anaconda Company. Mr. Parr holds a Masters of Science degree in Geology and Economics from the University of Utah. Mr. Parr has served as President of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation and the Utah Association of Petroleum and Mining Landmen, Chair of the Hard Minerals Committee of the Natural Resources Section, American Bar Association, Chair of the Section on Energy, Natural Resources and Environmental Law, Utah State Bar, Vice Chair of the Utah Energy Conservation and Development Council, a former member of the State Board of Parks and Recreation, and Chair of Envision Utah.

    Mr. Parr was listed in the 2004-2009, and 2011 editions of Utah Business magazine's Legal Elite in natural resources, The Best Lawyers in America 2006-2010 editions and the 2007-2011 editions of Mountain States Super Lawyers. He was also named one of the top Energy & Natural Resources lawyers in Utah in the 2010, and 2011 editions of Chambers USA - America's Leading Business Lawyers.
