Colin Jarraw practices in the areas of admiralty and maritime law, banking and ship finance, and company law, with a focus on shipping. He has advised foreign and local banks in shipping loan and security documentation and has acted for ship-owners on all aspects of non-contentious shipping matters, including financing and leasing transactions, advising on charterparties, shipbuilding contracts, conducting due diligence on shipping companies and ship and mortgage registrations in the major shipping registries around the world.
Mr. Jarraw has also advised both sellers and purchasers in ship sales and purchase transactions involving high value vessels.
Mr. Jarraw is a member of the Law Society of Singapore and a member of the Singapore Academy of Law. He also sits on the International Committee of the Singapore Shipping Association.
Mr. Jarraw graduated from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle in 1994 with an LL.B. (Hons) Upper Second Class. He obtained his Masters Degree from the University of Cambridge in 1995 and is a Fellow of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust. He was admitted to the Inner Temple as a Barrister-at-Law in 1996. In 1997 he was called to the Sarawak Bar in Malaysia where he commenced his legal practice. In 2004, he was called to the Singapore Bar.
Mr. Jarraw speaks English and Bahasa Malaysia and has a basic knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia.
