Courtney's practice focuses primarily on patent litigation and monetization. She counsels operating businesses, patent owners, and private equity firms on strategies for protecting and leveraging their business interests and IP assets.
In her nearly 10 years of practicing law, Courtney has achieved courtroom victories and negotiated favorable licenses on behalf of both patent owners and accused infringers in complex negotiations and protracted litigation. She executes strategy in all phases of litigation, including fact and expert discovery, motion practice, pre-trial briefing, and trial.
On the monetization side, Courtney has extensive experience identifying potential buyers and targets, designing strategic monetization plans, and negotiating transactions and draft deal documents. Courtney was the lead negotiator on a transaction which resulted in the sale by her client of a global portfolio to one of the world's largest semi-conductor manufacturers.
Courtney's practice also includes counseling and litigation relating to trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, false advertising, and breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims.
