The Firm was founded in 1868 and has been practicing continuously since then at the same location in Mattoon. The Mt. Vernon office was opened in 1986. Over the decades, the Firm has played a significant part in developing the law of drainage districts; oil, gas, coal and other minerals; real property; and personal injury and insurance in Illinois.
The Firm's philosophy is to provide the highest standard of professional service consistent with the greatest economy for the client. This includes aggressive use of ADR when feasible.
Two Partners are Fellows of the American College of Trial Lawyers and two other Fellows are Of Counsel to the Firm. Partners in the Firm have been extremely active over the decades in writing and lecturing for continuing legal education organizations in the State and nationally.
