Craig Townsend joined Adams and Reese in 1997 and brings more than 25 years of domestic energy experience to the Special Business Services Practice Group in the area of oil and gas law. Craig served as Practice Group Leader from 2004 through 2008, but in 2009 returned to focusing exclusively on client matters for the firm.
He has handled an extensive array of energy matters, including all phases of negotiation and documentation of acquisitions and divestitures of producing properties, exploration and seismic ventures, pooling and unitization issues, leasing and conveyancing, examination of land and mineral titles, energy related financing transactions, management arrangements, consulting agreements and services contracts.
Craig's clients include a variety of public and private, domestic and international companies, independents and individuals. His extensive knowledge lends itself not only to addressing legal issues, but also to assisting with a multitude of planning, operational and business issues for his clients.
His significant contributions include:
· Being named in Best Lawyers® in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012.
· Serving as lead counsel on a $1.3 billion acquisition of offshore oil and gas properties.
· Providing legal and business advisory services to clients with multi-generational contacts.
· Membership in the State Bar of Texas Section on Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law and the Houston Bar Association's Section on Oil, Gas and Mineral Law.
In his spare time, Craig enjoys fly fishing for trout in remote mountain streams, hunting birds and big game, competitive shooting sports, reading outdoor and other sporting classics and woodworking.
