Founded in 1958, and representing plaintiffs exclusively since 1973, Cunningham Bounds has a long and successful history of helping those who have been injured by the wrongdoing of others. The firm consists of 18 attorneys, a support staff of more than 30 people, and a full-time investigative team that includes several former law enforcement officers.
Most recently, Cunningham Bounds achieved a $40 million wrongful death verdict against Kia Motors of American, Kia Motors Corporation and DBI/Celltrion. The complaint was filed by the mother of a 16 year-old who was driving a Kia Sephia with defective seatbelt buckles that Kia had failed to recall. In 2009, the firm secured a $20 million verdict in a medical wrongful death case for the family of a woman who died after her anesthesia care team failed to follow the accepted standards of care in administering her anesthesia. In 2008, the firm obtained a $192 million verdict for a local chemist whose invention was stolen by a German chemical company. In 2007, the firm obtained a verdict of $50 million for the family of a local man who was killed by a water heater that exploded. That same year, the firm obtained a $108 million verdict for a local company whose landfill was poisoned by hazardous waste improperly dumped by the defendants. According to various legal periodicals, several of these verdicts were among the largest verdicts in the United States in the years in which they were handed down.
