Cynthia L. Kendrick is a counsel with the Insurance/Reinsurance, Litigation and Torts Groups in Crowell & Moring's Washington, D.C. office.
Cindy's practice focuses on litigation of complex civil cases, including asbestos bankruptcy, insurance coverage, pharmaceutical products liability involving both prescription and over-the-counter drugs, and environmental toxic tort liability (e.g., vinyl chloride, benzene, TCE, and a variety of other solvents). Cindy has represented insurance carriers in a variety of coverage disputes, successfully obtaining summary judgment in a number of cases. Cindy has also successfully represented insurance carriers in the appellate context in both state and federal courts. Cindy has worked on behalf of insurance carriers in multiple asbestos bankruptcy proceedings, including Thorpe Insulation, Plant Insulation, and Asarco.
Cindy has handled serial matters, consolidated cases and multidistrict proceedings, and class action matters in diverse state and federal forums. She is skilled in every phase of trial practice, including trial, Daubert, in limine, and other pre-trial proceedings, as well as management of mass tort litigation, having served as regional counsel in significant pharmaceutical products litigation. Cindy has extensive experience in the retention, preparation, presentation and cross-examination of expert witnesses at trial, Daubert hearing, and deposition, including medical and scientific experts from diverse fields, as well as FDA regulatory experts. She has worked closely with company scientists in the successful defense of numerous matters.
Cindy also has experience counseling clients on a variety of matters in the pharmaceutical products and environmental toxic tort liability areas, including evaluation of potential litigation risks in connection with governmental actions, potential acquisitions, and threatened litigation.
Cindy received her B.A. in English, summa cum laude, from Millsaps College in 1988. In 1991, she earned her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School. Cindy is a member of the District of Columbia, Maryland, Florida, and Mississippi Bars, and is admitted to practice before multiple federal courts.
