The firm traces its roots to Judge Adrian Duplantier who formed the firm in the early 1950s and subsequently served as a District Court Judge in Orleans Parish, Louisiana, and a Federal Judge in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. In 1975, Edward J. DeMartini moved the firm to Kenner, Louisiana. Roy M. D'Aquila joined the firm in 1979, succeeding Edward J. DeMartini. Mr. D'Aquila served as managing partner from 1998 until his untimely death in January 2012.

The current managing partners, Ellen Mullins and Robert A. Contreras, joined the firm in 1991. Throughout the years, the firm has employed many associates and dedicated staff members consisting of legal assistants, paralegals, and departmental administrators.

Even though the firm has a suburban location, it has represented some of the largest businesses in the Greater New Orleans area, and many national clients as well as hundreds of individuals needing legal representation. The firm represents clients in the areas of personal injury, divorces, estate planning, business litigation, collections, construction law, and criminal defense. Attorneys in the firm have practiced before most Federal and State Courts located in Louisiana. Through its affiliate, Republic Land Title Corporation, the firm has closed thousands of residential and commercial real estate transactions. Republic is an approved closing agent with substantially all of the mortgage companies, community banks, regional banks, and national banks who lend in the Greater New Orleans area.
