Biography

Damien Geradin is a partner in the firm's Brussels office, with broad experience in EU competition law.

Mr. Geradin's practice focuses on the interface between competition and intellectual property, as well as the regulation of network industries. He advises businesses, governments and regulatory agencies on issues affecting a variety of industries, including telecommunications, media, energy and transport. Mr. Geradin also has significant experience in the area of standardisation and IP licensing.

Mr. Geradin is currently a Professor of competition law and economics at Tilburg University and a William Cook Global Law Professor at the University of Michigan Law School. Over the years, he has held visiting Professorships at leading US law schools including Columbia, Harvard and Yale. He is the co-editor of the Journal of Competition Law and Economics (Oxford University Press).

According to Chambers Global (2011), Mr. Geradin "is well known for his writing, with commentators describing him as "one of the best antitrust theoreticians around."

· Slovak Telekom in the European Commission's investigation of their pricing practices on the Slovak broadband market.

· Microsoft in the European Commission's investigation in relation to the alleged tying of Internet Explorer with Microsoft's Windows Operating System.

· Qualcomm in the European Commission's investigation regarding complaints lodged by Nokia, Ericsson, NEC, Panasonic, Texas instruments and Broadcom.

· A third party intervener objecting to the merger of Google and DoubleClick.

· Qualcomm regarding the competition law aspects of patent infringement cases they brought against Nokia in France, Italy, Germany and the UK.

· Qualcomm in a KFTC antitrust investigation of their business practices.

· Motion Picture Association (MPA) as their regular antitrust counsel.
