Dana Merkel focuses her practice on providing legal advice to companies involved in the maritime industry.
Prior to joining Blank Rome, she worked through the International Organization of Masters, Mates, and Pilots as a Third Mate and Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) for several international shipping companies in the container, dry bulk, and tanker segments of the industry. Ms. Merkel also gained maritime experience ashore as a marine controller for a major U.S. oil company.
While earning her JD, Ms. Merkel was the managing editor of the Roger Williams University Law Review and a member of the Admiralty Moot Court Team.
Ms. Merkel is also a Lieutenant in the U.S. Naval Reserve.
Practicing under the supervision of principals of the firm admitted in DC. Admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York only.
