Experience Dan is a Shareholder in the firm's business litigation department. His practice is primarily devoted to civil litigation, including both trial and appellate work, in both state and federal courts. Dan is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Illinois. His experience includes complex contract, fraud and real estate disputes, personal injury defense, bank litigation, commercial mortgage foreclosure, sports law and professional malpractice defense. Dan also devotes a portion of his practice to juvenile law, representing the Department of Children and Family's designated Community-Based Care Provider in Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Columbia, Dixie, Gilchrist, Lafayette, Levy, Madison, Suwannee, Taylor, and Union Counties. Dan has twice been named a top "Up and Comer" attorney under 40 years of age in the Florida Trend's annual "Florida Legal Elite" publication based on a state-wide vote of members of the Florida Bar. Background Dan was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and raised outside Chicago, Illinois. He received his undergraduate degree from Cornell University in Psychology, with a concentration in Law and Society. In 2001, Dan graduated from Loyola Chicago School of Law with honors. He was both a Student Articles Editor and a Conference Editor for the Loyola University Chicago School of Law Journal. In the latter capacity, Dan planned and coordinated Loyola's first-ever student-run national scholarly conference. Following his graduation from Loyola, Dan clerked for The Honorable G. Kendall Sharp, Senior United States District Court Judge for the Middle District of Florida.
