Daniel L. Meehan, III is an associate in the firm's Baltimore office. Dan focuses his practice on employee benefits and executive compensation. He advises employers regarding the design, drafting, compliance, administration and termination of tax-qualified and non-qualified compensation arrangements. He also counsels trustees of employee benefit plans concerning their fiduciary obligations in the administration of such plans, and has counseled trustees concerning compliance with MPPAA and the recently enacted Pension Protection Act.
Dan also works on cases involving compensation and benefits issues in labor litigation with significant pension liability. He also advises management on employee benefits issues associated with labor disputes, including bargaining during a strike or lockout, and on multiemployer health and pension plan obligations.
He has experience in all aspects of health and welfare plans, including compliance with ERISA, COBRA, the PPACA and other federal and state laws. He advises clients on employee benefits matters associated with corporate transactions, including mergers, acquisitions and reorganizations, and works with clients to identify and resolve issues impacting collectively bargained employee benefit plans.
In addition to his specialization in benefits, Dan regularly advises clients with employment law issues relating to compensation and benefits, including matters involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, particularly in the areas of state and federal wage and hour law.
While in law school, Dan was a Tax Fellow with Ernst & Young LLP in Washington, D.C.
