Daniel Malabonga is a partner in Venable's regulatory practice group, with a focus on energy law. He works on matters involving the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state regulatory agencies.
Mr. Malabonga has a broad range of experience with transmission, energy and ancillary service market issues. Specifically, he has worked on issues related to transmission congestion and hedging, financial transmission rights (FTRs), auction revenue rights (ARRs), long-term firm transmission rights (LTTRs), Revenue Sufficiency Guarantees (RSG), transmission expansion planning and cost allocation, market monitoring and mitigation, grandfathered agreements (GFAs), demand response, operating reserves, resource adequacy, reliability measures, shortage and emergency procedures, generator interconnection, black start service, station power, creditworthiness standards, dispute resolution, data confidentiality and records retention.
Mr. Malabonga also brings experience in international arbitration and litigation. He has assisted in proceedings before the International Chamber of Commerce, the World Trade Organization and the International Court of Justice.
