DANIEL R. HUGUNINE is an Associate in the Birmingham office and a member of the Financial Institutions and Services Practice Group, where his practice primarily focuses on assisting various financial institutions, including banks, bank holding companies, broker-dealers and investment advisers on issues relating to regulatory compliance, securities laws, and the expansion of permissible activities.
Mr. Hugunine has assisted clients with the following:
· Representing banks and other institutions in the negotiation of derivatives contracts including interest rate swaps and commodity derivatives.
· Representing financial institutions, as both owners and tenants, in the negotiation and preparation of leases for retail and commercial sites, including various forms of commercial leases, ground leases, lease disputes, lease restructuring and purchase and sale agreements
· Representing financial institutions in the negotiation of vendor contracts and other regulatory matters, including facilities management and maintenance services, portfolio transaction and brokerage services, project management services and lease administration services.
· Assisting clients with regulatory issues related to the Commodity Exchange Act and CFTC regulations.
Prior to joining Balch & Bingham LLP, Mr. Hugunine was a Certified Public Accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the John Buck Company, a real estate development and management firm, in Chicago, Illinois for three years. Mr. Hugunine is a registered Certified Public Accountant in Alabama.
