Daniel “Danny” Burgess, Jr. was born and raised in Zephyrhills and is an East Pasco native. Danny is a product of the Zephyrhills school system, having attended Woodland Elementary, Stewart Middle and graduated from Zephyrhills High School in 2004.
Danny has deep ties to the community – both of his parents were graduates of Zephyrhills High School, he has attended St. Joseph’s Catholic Church his entire life, and is actively involved in various community organizations and charities.
Danny graduated from the University of South Florida in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. While a freshman in college, Danny was elected to the Zephyrhills City Council at the age of 18, making him the youngest elected official in the State of Florida.
Danny was subsequently re-elected in 2007 and served as Council President in 2008 before resigning his office to attend law school at Barry University School of Law in Orlando, Florida. His hard work and dedication paid off in 2011 when Danny received his Juris Doctor from Barry. He is licensed to practice law in the State of Florida, District of Columbia, United States Federal Court for the Middle District of Florida, and Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.
Danny joined Johnson, Auvil, Pratico, & Chane, P.A. in June 2013. Danny primarily practices in the commercial litigation arena with Steve Pratico, and also assists Leonard Johnson in his real estate and commercial practice. Danny also brings experience in immigration law and endeavors to assist clients with immigration related issues.
Danny was elected Mayor of the City of Zephyrhills in 2013, becoming the youngest mayor in the City’s history at the age of 27. Danny is married to Courtney Burgess, originally of Lithia, Florida, and they are currently expecting their first child in January 2014. Danny also serves as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve as a Judge Advocate General.
In his free time, Danny enjoys running and exercising; watching movies; studying history, politics and theology; and spending time with his family and friends.
