Danielle J. Hessell is an associate based in Butzel Long's Bloomfield Hills office. She is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law (J.D., summa cum laude, 2005), where she was a Dean King Scholar, was an Associate Editor of the Law Review, earned a certificate in Trial Practice, and received Jurisprudence Achievement Awards for Research, Writing and Advocacy, Pretrial, and Negotiation. Ms. Hessell is also a graduate of Central Michigan University (B.S., magna cum laude, 2002).
Ms. Hessell concentrates her practice in commercial and business litigation. She has experience in the areas of automotive supplier disputes, construction litigation, administrative compliance issues, consumer protection and collections matters, and real property litigation. She is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the American Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Oakland County Bar Association. Ms. Hessell is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Experience
· Prevailed on Motion for Summary Disposition on behalf of our client, an anchor tenant in a shopping center, and against the landlord who claimed wrongful termination of the lease
· Successfully defended manufacturing company in two different lawsuits filed by another automotive company
· Obtained summary judgment in multiple defendant mortgage fraud case alleging RICO and other claims
