Darice McNelis serves as inside counsel for the firm. She handles engagement letters, conflicts of interest, waivers and compliance with the American Bar Association's rules of professional conduct. Darice assists in training and development programs that educate attorneys regarding professional responsibilities and ethics. In dealing with the multi-jurisdictional and multi-disciplinary aspects of the firm's activities, she addresses confidentiality issues, potential conflicts of interest and engagements letters. Darice also provides guidance to firm administrators regarding ethical obligations and client confidentiality issues, particularly in the areas of hiring new attorneys and external communications. Prior to her current role as in house counsel, Darice focused her practice on regulatory and transactional matters for a range of clients, including academic medical centers, regional health care systems, community and rural hospitals, home health agencies, nursing facilities and physicians. She also represented established and start-up biotech and high tech companies whose products and services target health care markets. Prior to joining Buchanan, Darice was in-house counsel for a major academic medical center where she represented various entities on diverse regulatory and transactional matters.
