Daryl Williams is an AV-rated trial lawyer with extensive trial experience. Mr. Williams has conducted more than one hundred jury trials involving commercial litigation matters since beginning his practice in 1976.
Mr. Williams has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in lawsuits involving business contracts, construction, property condemnation, lender liability, bad faith, unfair trade practices, computer piracy, trade secrets, mining rights, aviation, trademark and patent infringement, real estate, commercial fraud, and civil racketeering.
Mr. Williams has extensive experience with securities fraud issues; for instance, he served as lead defense counsel in the $577-million Baptist Foundation of Arizona criminal securities fraud trial brought by the Arizona Attorney General where he handled the securities and contract issues with criminal counsel handling the criminal issues. The ten-month jury trial, which involved more than 32,000 exhibits, garnered extensive local and national media attention. In the area of construction law, he has represented general contractors, subcontractors, materials suppliers and project owners in construction disputes, as well as design professionals.
Mr. Williams also practices aviation law and is a commercial, multi-engine pilot with instrument privileges and has more than 3,000 hours of flight time. His aviation law experience involves certificate actions for airmen and operators (Part 135) before the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), as well as assistance with through-the-fence operations at airports and grant compliance issues. His aviation work is in the nature of commercial litigation except for the small percentage of certificate actions he does, which are mostly pro bono.
Mr. Williams recently won a jury verdict of $47 million in an international breach of contract case involving claims against the worlds largest child care provider, a multi-billion dollar company.
Mr. Williams is committed to his community as well as his clients. Volunteer work includes serving as a member of the board of directors for the American Diabetes Association (ADA) from 2002-2005, serving on the ADA's Research Policy Committee, the ADA's National Government Relations Committee, and the Mountain States Regional Board for the ADA. He was the chairman of the Phoenix affiliate of the ADA and his work was instrumental in persuading the FAA to allow individuals with Type I diabetes to obtain medical certificates.
He is presently president and chairman of the board of Ballet and Friends, a charitable organization, which provides aspiring dancers with an opportunity to perform in public with world-class professionals.
He served as a scout master for many years for the Boy Scouts of America while his son was involved in scouts.
He is a benefactor of the Broadway Theater Series for the Grady Gammage Theater at Arizona State University.
He has also served on the board of governors and was chairman of the board of governors for the Arizona School for the Arts, a non-profit college preparatory/performing arts school.
Mr. Williams is adjunct professor of Law at Arizona State University where he teaches trial techniques and the use of technology in the courtroom to third year students, seniors.
Mr. Williams was born in grand Junction, Colorado, and taught undergraduate economics courses at BYU. His hobbies include flying, fine woodworking and classical piano. He speaks, reads and writes Spanish.
