Alex Dathorne has 18 years of criminal law experience. Prior to becoming a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Dathorne began his career a Fayette County Attorney, then a Fayette County Commonwealth Attorney. Subsequently, Mr. Dathorne became the Chief narcotics prosecutor in the Jefferson County Commonwealth Attorney's Office. He also server as a prosecutor for the Department of Justice in the United States Virgin Islands.
Brian Butler has 17 years of criminal law experience. Prior to becoming a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Butler was a Navy J.A.G. where he defended and prosecuted military cases. Subsequently, Mr. Butler became the chief of a General Trial Unit at the Jeffeson County Commonwealth Attorney's Office. His unit handled white collar cases and violent crime. Mr. Butler left the Commonwealth Attorney's Office to become a federal prosecutor at the U.S. Attorney's Office in Louisville, Kentucky.
Both Mr. Dathorne and Mr. Butler were formerly adjunct faculty members at the National Advocacy Center in South Carolina teaching trial skills to prosecutors from across the United States. Both Mr. Dathorne and Mr. Butler are adjunct faculty members at the University of Louisville School of Law. They have taught criminal procedure, trial advocacy, and advanced trial advocacy to law students.
Mr. Dathorne and Mr. Butler have successfully tired numerous felony jury trials as both prosecutors and defense attorneys in federal and state court. They have appeared on CNN, Fox News, Good Morning America, and have been featured in the Louisville Courier-Journal.
