David Doughty focuses his practice on representing lenders involved in real estate secured loans, with a special emphasis in the modification and servicing of securitized commercial loans. He provides advice and assistance to lenders concerned with maintaining compliance with federal tax law while responding to requests from borrowers seeking loan modifications for a wide spectrum of purposes, including partial releases of collateral, construction of additional improvements, extensions of loan maturity dates and loan assumptions by new borrowers. He regularly counsels clients with regards to commercial leasing matters, zoning and land use regulations, letters of credit, survey analysis and title policy negotiation.
Mr. Doughty formerly served as in-house counsel to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, where he provided advice and legal analysis pertaining to the FDIC's structure and sale of portfolios of real estate loans. He also practiced for several years with a Wall Street-based law firm, where he concentrated in the area of representing lenders in the origination of real estate loans on a wide range of commercial property types, including hotels, multifamily developments, office buildings and shopping centers.
