David Rogers practices patent, trademark, trade dress and unfair competition law, including preparing and prosecuting domestic and foreign patent and trademark applications, patent and trademark litigation, handling inter partes trademark proceedings including oppositions, cancellations and internet domain name disputes, developing brand protection strategies, and preparing manufacturing, consulting and technology contracts.
He has experience with many technologies including complex machinery, semiconductors, mechanical and chemical manufacturing processes, consumer products, specialty chemicals, paper products, food products, explosives, medical devices, surgical procedures and building materials.
Prior to attending law school, David worked for over eleven years in industry, holding positions as a manufacturing manager, marketing and sales manager, and independent manufacturers' representative for, respectively, the Procter & Gamble Co., Schlegel Corporation and the Gemroi Company.
David has been a featured speaker on U.S. and international patent, trademark and technology transfer matters at seminars in Singapore, Russia, Malaysia and the United States, including at seminars on intellectual property protection and technology transfer in China. He also has been a guest lecturer on various patent and trademark law topics at Arizona State University.
David is the co-author of two books on patent and trademark law: 201 Thoughts to Ignite Innovation, which includes business perspectives on the protection of inventions and trademarks, and Business Success Through Innovation: An Insider's Guide to the World of United States Patents, which explores how the United States maintains its place as the world's largest economy not through factories and manufactured goods, but through the value of intellectual property, particularly patents. He is also the author of several articles on intellectual property, and has been quoted in Forbes.com, the Boston Globe, Law360, and published in American Chemistry, industryweek.com and ipfrontline.com.
