| Biography | David G. Luettgen is a partner with Foley & Lardner, and a member of the firm's Electronics and Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies Practices, as well as the Insurance Industry Team. Mr. Luettgen's legal experience includes intellectual property portfolio development, including business method patents; infringement risk assessment and avoidance; intellectual property agreement negotiation and counseling; merger and acquisition due diligence; and other intellectual property counseling. Mr. Luettgen has assisted software and financial services industry clients pursue patent protection for business processes and financial products, including business-to-business financial data processing systems, internal financial data processing systems, risk allocation and management systems, investment products and securities, medical information systems, e-commerce and website systems, and other innovations. Mr. Luettgen's other technical skill areas include computer and data processing systems, control systems, imaging systems, communication systems, smart cards, industrial automation, and vehicle electronics. Mr. Luettgen has successfully represented clients in proceedings before the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences and in patent re-examination proceedings. Mr. Luettgen graduated from the University of Texas School of Law (J.D., with honors, 1995) and Purdue University (B.S., electrical engineering, 1991). He was the managing editor of the Texas Intellectual Property Law Journal. Mr. Luettgen is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. |
