David is a resident of the Firm's Stamford office and a member of the Firm's Intellectual Property and Litigation Practice Groups. David has had experience in a broad range of intellectual property issues, including those concerning patents, copyrights, trademarks, and trade secrets. In addition to the vast experience David gained as a design engineer prior to beginning his legal practice, David has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a variety of technology fields, including, for example, electronic control systems, fluid filtration devices, pumps, gas turbine engines, medical devices and business methods. David also counsels individual and corporate clients with respect to patent validity, enforceability and infringement. A significant portion of David's practice comprises patent litigation matters wherein he assists firm clients with the enforcement of patent rights or in defending clients against accusations of infringement. In addition to his active practice, David, along with his Edwards Wildman colleagues, teaches Strategic Decisions in Intellectual Property at the University of Connecticut School of Law including classes directed at claim construction techniques, patent foreign filing considerations and litigation pre-filing investigations. Notable Experience · Successfully settled patent infringement lawsuit on behalf of patent holder and assisted client with the licensing of the technology. · Successfully defended patent infringement lawsuit concerning ultraviolet light emitting lamps. · Obtained several U.S. patents for helicopter gas turbine engine components. · Assisted Fortune 500 corporate client with the integration, organization and management of a recently acquired extensive patent portfolio. During that time, he earned his M.S. in mechanical engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and was responsible for providing project leadership for system integration and the design of mechanical/electrical tooling. Additionally, David assisted the corporate General Counsel with preliminary intellectual property evaluations. Prior to joining the Firm, David was an associate in a large Connecticut-based firm. Besides Edwards Wildman David enjoys running, golf and woodworking.
