Biography

David Cox focuses his practice on insurance coverage and complex commercial litigation issues. He has experience representing corporate policyholders, including manufacturers, government contractors, professional services companies, financial institutions, investment companies and non-profits, in connection with civil actions, arbitrations, mediations, negotiations and advice involving a wide range of commercial insurance and reinsurance issues, including insurance company bad faith and coverage for asbestos bodily injury disputes, environmental liabilities, catastrophic property losses, copyright infringement, construction defects, theft, directors' and officers' liability, professional malpractice, property damage and business interruption. Mr. Cox has been a regular commentator for Mealey's Litigation Report: Insurance Bad Faith and also has experience in consulting on complex e-discovery issues.

Mr. Cox has also committed many hours to representation of pro bono clients. He recently was part of a team of firm attorneys who developed a series of webinars with the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program's Community Economic Development (CED) Project, on risk management and insurance matters, focused on issues faced by non-profit organizations. The firm was honored as the co-recipient of the D.C. Bar's 2011 Frederick B. Abramson Award for its work on this project.
