· Counsel to Lorillard Tobacco Company in defense of numerous class action and individual smoking and health cases. Lead trial counsel for client in the Engle class action, the largest class action to ever go to trial in the United States. Lead trial counsel for industry in obtaining defense jury verdict in environmental tobacco smoke case.
· Counsel to Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative in defense of multimillion dollar class action alleging breach of contract brought by farm workers. Successful in achieving defense verdict following multiweek jury trial. This case is currently the subject of a Hollywood feature film in production.
· Obtained dismissal of a $1.2 billion dollar federal fraud suit against Valmet Oy, an international corporation based in Helsinki, Finland.
· Counsel to Delta Airlines in defense of labor contract dispute brought by class of flight attendants.
· Counsel to E. I. DuPont de Nemours in defense of administrative complaint brought by Florida Department of Agriculture alleging the sale of contaminated Benlate fungicide. Defeated all claims.
· Defense of State Farm in several class action suits, obtaining dismissals of each.
· Counsel to all major domestic U.S. airlines in the dismissal of a noise pollution class action suit at the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport.
· Representation of Eastern Airlines in prosecution of numerous, nationally prominent injunction actions against various unions involving both pre-and post-strike conduct.
· Defended Metromedia in a $27 million dollar breach of contract action resulting in a jury verdict for the defendant following a three-week jury trial.
· Counsel to Progressive Insurance in defense of after market parts class actions.
· Represented State Farm in a six-week antitrust jury trial ending with a defense verdict.
