David L. McKenzie is a member of the Business & Professional Litigation group. He focuses his practice on general civil litigation, intellectual property law, cyberlaw, entertainment and art law, unfair competition, antitrust, constitutional law, and land use matters.
Most of his federal and state court experience has been handling civil litigation matters pertaining to copyright and trademark infringement, antitrust issues, the interplay between free speech and IP protection, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and other business torts. He has also represented land use clients before County Boards of Adjustments and Home Owners Associations and handled transactional work including intellectual property, contracts and business formation matters. Additional skills include representing clients in actions for securities (including FINRA), legal and medical malpractice, criminal defense, discrimination and professional licensure defense. Finally, David has vast experience prosecuting and defending constitutional violations under 42 USC sec 1983.
David has been in court for over 40 trials. Following law school at North Carolina Central University in 2004, he worked at Duke University School of Law as a Visiting Scholar/Research Fellow. He then opened his own firm, McKenzie Law.
David earned his undergraduate degree at Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tennessee and went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Duke University. After studying for the ministry, he served as the pastor to several churches before entering law school.
