DAVID WALKER is a limited partner of Neblett, Beard & Arsenault. He joined the firm in 1985 after a judicial clerkship. Mr. Walker is recognized by his peers and listed as a "Louisiana Super Lawyer" in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 by Thomson Reuters publication, Louisiana Super Lawyers®.
Focusing on personal injury and consumer litigation, Mr. Walker has decades of experience and has been counsel in over one thousand litigated cases and has been retained in over two thousand injury cases. He represents clients concentrating on 18 wheeler/trucking collisions, tour bus - motor coach accidents, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations; Admiralty, Jones Act, and Maritime Law; Death on the High Seas; Insurance Contract Coverage; Motor Vehicle Collisions; and Products Liability Law. Mr. Walker's accounting degree and experience in the public accounting field, along with his business acumen, provide a background to competently handle business, securities and financial litigation.
Mr. Walker has litigated numerous cases and negotiated many significant multi-million dollar settlements, including: commercial truck collision with lower spine injury, 18 wheeler collision with traumatic brain injury; helicopter crash in the Gulf of Mexico; mesothelioma caused by asbestos exposure; pipeline worker burned in an explosion; a motor vehicle accident victim hit by a drunk driver; a barge worker killed by an explosion of an underwater gas pipeline; and considerable lawsuits involving Jones Act seamen. In 2011, Mr. Walker was lead counsel in a successful $7 Million injury case. Mr. Walker is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum and invited to membership in the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum.
In 2012, Mr. Walker was a guest lecturer at LSU Law School Pre-Trial Litigation Practice. In 2011, Mr. Walker was a speaker for the Louisiana State Bar Association's 18th Annual admiralty Symposium; an the Solo & Small Firm Conference. 2010, Mr. Walker was a speaker at the AAJ Interstate Trucking Litigation Group, Litigation Truck Collision Cases Seminar, and admitted to the AAJ Gulf Coast Oil Spill Litigation Group; in 2009, spoke at the Louisiana State Bar Association's 16th Annual Admiralty Symposium; and in 2008, appeared before the Supreme Court of Louisiana in a UM insurance contract case.
Mr. Walker is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Texas, and admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. He has taught courses in negligence and offshore injury and lectured on trial techniques. He is a member of the Louisiana and Texas State Bar Associations, American Association for Justice, the Louisiana Association for Justice (President's Advisory Counsel 1989 1995), Master of the Bench of the Crossroads American Inns of Court, and the AAJ Interstate Trucking Litigation Group.
Mr. Walker earned his law degree in 1984 from Southern University Law Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, cum laude, was on the Moot Court Board and was a candidate of the Law Review. Mr. Walker also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.
David and his wife, Janet, have been married for twenty-five years and are the parents of three children.
