| Biography | David T. Klapheke is a partner in the Firm and is a member of the Firm's Finance, Technology and 401K Committees. He obtained his Bachelors of Arts (with distinction) from Indiana University in 1985 and his Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University of Law in 1988 where he served as the Student Writing Editor for the Vanderbilt Journal Transnational Law. Mr. Klapheke began his practice in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the firm of Rider, Bennett in the Litigation Department focusing on insurance defense, product liability, employment law and railroad litigation. He was a frequent lecturer and author on various topics and was elected to partnership in 1994. Since joining the Firm in 1995, Mr. Klapheke has defended corporate and insurance clients throughout the country and has been admitted to practice in numerous state and federal courts. Mr. Klapheke's current practice is varied and includes bad faith defense, toxic tort litigation, railroad defense, employment law, product liability, and professional liability litigation. He has handled multiple jury trials involving complex claims and argued many cases on appeal with several appellate decisions being published. Mr. Klapheke was selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America, 2009-2011, Kentucky Super Lawyers and Super Lawyers, Corporate Counsel Edition and has attained Martindale-Hubbell's highest rating for legal ability and ethical standards. He is active in several professional associations including the Defense Research Institute, National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel and Kentucky Defense Counsel. He has given numerous presentations on insurance law, bad faith, railroad litigation and employment law. Mr. Klapheke is admitted to practice in the state courts of Kentucky and the federal courts in Kentucky, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Mr. Klapheke participates in many volunteer activities in his community including youth sports coaching and parish services and is President of the Kentucky Squash Racquets Association.
