James J. Davidson, Jr., the founding member of the firm of Davidson, Meaux, Sonnier & McElligott, L.L.P., commenced practicing law in 1927 after graduating from Tulane University. The firm presently consists of eleven attorneys.

The firm handles estate matters, general and corporate business matters and real estate transactions. A substantial defense trial practice in insurance, railroad, products liability, corporate and individual matters is maintained.

The firm practices in all the Courts of the State of Louisiana, District and Appellate, both State and Federal.

The firm primarily handles litigation and business matters in the area known as Acadiana, an area of approximately seven parishes in the southwest portion of the State. It does, however, at times extend its practice to other parts of the State as the clients desire.
